Femcels rising: how to cope with lack of sex and intimacy The media is bombarding us with sex tips and sex normalization. But what if we're not getting any? How do the rest of us fit in?
Anyone who is exposed to mainstream media on a regular basis is pretty much constantly reminded of sex. We are told how good it is for you, how we can have better orgasms and how to impress our lovers with exciting new skills. We get told how to attract people to do it with, and how to make those we’ve snared want more. But… what if we’re not getting any, eh? How do the rest of us fit in? It has to be said, some people actively choose not to have sex. Whether they’re committed to religious beliefs which state they should wait until after marriage, or are simply deciding for…

It Happened To Me: We invited a transwoman to girl’s night and it blew up in our faces "I'm sorry but if you're uncomfortable now, wait until we lez out and instead of licking you have to suck."
On Friday night a group of friends and I decided to have a girls night in to “celebrate” a break up one of them had just had. Our plan was to watch cheesy movies, laugh, cry, order pizza, drink wine and just do girl things. It wasn’t a planned sleepover but I didn’t mind if anyone decided to stay. We have a trans girl who is sort of like our friend but she lives an hour a way so we don’t know her all that well. On the occasion we do see her she’s always been friendly and nice. Her name is Tilly. Some of us know her pre-trans, some…

It Happened To Me: I let my wife almost kill our son—and I’m glad it happened From the day he was born, my son just came out wrong.
Content warning: this post deals with very severe mental illness and violence. My son was very troubled. VERY troubled. If you have seen the movie “We Need To Talk About Kevin”, it will really help to understand what I’m talking about, because I swear to God when I watched that film I thought I was watching a documentary of my life. I felt like the writer must have had cameras hidden in my damn house, that’s how accurate it was. The only difference is that in the movie, the boy appears normal to his father and only reveals his true nature to his mother. My son didn’t have that mask.…

It Happened To Me: I let my father pay me for sex My mother told me that everyone is done with me, and to please leave them alone.
I don’t remember when he started touching me, that was just always a part of our relationship. I remember when he started having sex with me. I was young. Then he stopped for a few years. Maybe he was afraid he would get caught. He started again when I was around 13. He never physically forced me, but would ask and beg. “Daddy loves you so much.” “Please do this for daddy.” “Daddy wants to make you feel good.” I was ashamed and I’m still humiliated by the fact that my body liked some of what he did to me. But I did not like it. Or want it. I…

It Happened To Me: I keep having dreams where I call Obama the N-word and I want it to stop Every time it happens my work suffers the next day.
Politically, I’ve been a Democrat my entire life and an Obama supporter for as long as I can remember. I volunteered for John Kerry’s presidential campaign back in 2004 which is where Obama first registered on my map. I watched his speech at the DNC and was instantly enamored. And when he announced his candidacy for president in 2007, I immediately threw my weight behind him. I knocked on doors, educated people about his policies and did the best I could to get people to vote for him. When he was elected, I was ecstatic. In the past, when I had supported candidates, it was out of cold reason; because…

It Happened To Me: I crushed a little fat girl’s spirit by wearing her enormous clothes On how to protect ourselves from being fat, and why it’s so important, especially for my daughters, to not be fat.
True story: down the street from us live a couple with two very lovely daughters. The girls’ names really do start with A and B, so I’ll call them Girl A and Girl B. The Dad is in great shape and not overweight in the slightest, but the Mom…oh my. She is a good 100 lbs overweight and maybe even more. It comes down to the food they eat. Standing out in front of their house last summer, Mom came out and asked the kids if they wanted strawberries. Strawberries! Yummy! She brought out a plate of strawberries that were coated in caramel and then dipped in chocolate and she…

It Happened To Me: My abusive ex used his Xbox to steal all my money and I still talk to him Everything happens for a reason. Dealing with him has made me the resilient and accomplished person I am today.
There are many stories that illustrate just how dumb I used to be, but this one is the worst. I used to be with Douchebag on and off for about two years. He was always borrowing money off me, asking me to buy him stuff, insisting that I give him rides, etc. My close friends kept telling me that he was just using me and that I needed to stop seeing him completely, but I didn’t listen. He eventually became abusive, physically and emotionally, and somehow I still never clued in that this wasn’t normal. I guess hindsight is 20/20, but I don’t know how I never saw that he…

How to get, and KEEP, a good credit score I’m anal about my credit. It’s my baby. Seriously, ask my mom.
Even though I still owe about $1500 on my credit cards, when I checked Equifax in May I had a 737 score. That has inevitably dropped a bit because I applied for another credit card (it’s only for a balance transfer, don’t stone me), but that should give you an idea of what my credit looks like. Considering I had a high debt-to-credit ratio when my information was reported, and that I won’t have 2 full years of credit history until September, that is pretty damn good. Many in the personal finance world are adamant that you shouldn’t worry about your credit score. Since no one wants to be in…

It Happened To Me: I tried to trick my ex into getting me pregnant My motivation was not to “trap” Alex in any way. I merely wanted someone to replace him.
OK, I know. The title makes me sound like a horrible person — and you’re absolutely right if you’re thinking that was an awful thing to do. It was! I guess my objective here is to paint myself as a relatable character, if not a sympathetic one. When I was 21 years old, I was a mess. My father had died of a drug overdose a little over a year before, and both of my grandmothers passed away that same year. My mother was in the middle of a messy divorce from my verbally abusive stepfather, and I was in the middle of a break-up with my boyfriend of nearly…

It Happened To Me: I made my sister believe she got molested by our uncle I may have gone too far this time.
When does a practical joke go too far? After four years married to my husband, I’ll admit my gauge is a bit off. In our house the rule is: nothing is off limits, as long as it’s funny. That being said, we’re also the couple that thinks jokes about our miscarried child are HILARIOUS and TOTALLY APPROPRIATE at dinner parties with women less than three months pregnant. It probably won’t come as a shock that sometimes our humor gets us in deep shit. My favorite example of a practical joke gone awry is the molestation prank we played on my sister Pam last year. It started at our house one…
