The “wage gap” explained in simple terms We even have pictures.
Women do earn less than men on average, but that is because women make different choices. There is no wage gap measured in terms of hours worked. Let’s try with pictures first. Women in the West, for the most part, can safely assume that men will provide for them, either through private arrangements like marriage, or through progressive taxation. Since men work more hours and earn more money than women, they also contribute more to the taxbase, which liberal governments increasingly hand out to women. Men are forced to pay for women, whether they agree to do so or not. Men who vote for socially progressive governments are essentially agreeing to…

The top 10% of white families own almost everything The overall wealth distribution picture is grim and getting worse.
The Federal Reserve released the 2013 Survey of Consumer Finances yesterday. The overall wealth distribution picture is grim and getting worse: The top 10% of families own 75.3% of the nation’s wealth. The bottom half of families own 1.1% of it. The families squished in between those two groups own 24.6% of the national wealth. The present wealth distribution is more unequal than it was in 2010, the last year this survey was conducted. Specifically, the top 10% increased their share of the national wealth by 0.8 percentage points between 2010 and 2013. The bottom half and middle 40% saw their share of the national wealth fall by 0.1 and 0.7…

We hate sugar babies because they’re competition They are a new generation of women—who believe in total body autonomy. Opposition comes down to sour fucking grapes.
I stumbled across this website a few days ago, and I was both repulsed and fascinated by it. It’s called Earn The Necklace, with the tagline Young Women….Rich, Older Men….Juicy Confessions. And it’s not a joke. Earn the Necklace has as of the time of writing a US Alexa Ranking of 33,254, meaning it’s a rather popular site. This shit really happens. Of course Jezebel has cottoned on to this, and my goodness, did they ever work hard to spin the ladies as poor exploited victims of predatory men. Are you a young woman who likes money or an old man with money who likes young women and would like…

It Happened To Me: My abusive ex used his Xbox to steal all my money and I still talk to him Everything happens for a reason. Dealing with him has made me the resilient and accomplished person I am today.
There are many stories that illustrate just how dumb I used to be, but this one is the worst. I used to be with Douchebag on and off for about two years. He was always borrowing money off me, asking me to buy him stuff, insisting that I give him rides, etc. My close friends kept telling me that he was just using me and that I needed to stop seeing him completely, but I didn’t listen. He eventually became abusive, physically and emotionally, and somehow I still never clued in that this wasn’t normal. I guess hindsight is 20/20, but I don’t know how I never saw that he…

8 things I learned about personal finance by watching Breaking Bad And no, I'm not about to suggest cooking meth.
I just watched the Season 5 premiere of one of my most favorite shows, ever, Breaking Bad. From what I garner on twitter, many of us are fans of this amazing show (and trust me, I watch(ed) a ton of shows). I first discovered this show through Netflix, and thought that I would just watch the first episode. I found that I couldn’t stop pressing “next episode” until I bought and completed the 4th season. This show teaches us so many lessons about life, planning ahead and planning for the future, as well as covering ourselves in all situations but being smart and thoughtful about our next moves with the…

How to get, and KEEP, a good credit score I’m anal about my credit. It’s my baby. Seriously, ask my mom.
Even though I still owe about $1500 on my credit cards, when I checked Equifax in May I had a 737 score. That has inevitably dropped a bit because I applied for another credit card (it’s only for a balance transfer, don’t stone me), but that should give you an idea of what my credit looks like. Considering I had a high debt-to-credit ratio when my information was reported, and that I won’t have 2 full years of credit history until September, that is pretty damn good. Many in the personal finance world are adamant that you shouldn’t worry about your credit score. Since no one wants to be in…
